Ye Vagabonds share new single and Ellius Grace Directed Video ‘Danny’
Ye Vagabonds return with “Danny,” a poignant single and Ellius Grace-directed video from their upcoming album All Tied Together, out January 30th, an album that marks a significant shift toward original songwriting. Featuring cello and harmonium, the track celebrates a life failed by society – based on a troubled Carlow boy who, Diarmuid says, “didn’t get a fair run. I wanted to celebrate him.”

Ye Vagabonds have journeyed from the street corners of Carlow to the vanguard of the global folk scene, a trajectory KLOF Mag’s Thomas Blake describes, in his album review, as having “more than a hint of rags-to-riches about it, except the riches are of the artistic rather than the monetary kind.” This evolution culminates on January 30th, 2026, with the release of their fourth album, All Tied Together, via River Lea.

The latest album preview is the new single “Danny,” a poignant character study of a troubled boy from the brothers’ hometown. Built upon a distinctive tapestry of cello, synthesiser, and harmonium, the track reflects Diarmuid Mac Gloinn’s desire to celebrate a soul who “didn’t get a fair run.” The release is accompanied by a striking video directed by Ellius Grace (Lankum, Lisa O’Neill), following previous singles “The Flood” and “On Sitric Road.”

As Blake notes, the album’s emotional heft stems from the fact that “the songs, for the first time, are all their own.” Produced by Phil Weinrobe (Big Thief), the record balances intimate storytelling with expansive textures. Tracing their path from the “post-2008 Irish economic downturn,” the brothers have “put in the hard yards,” moving from Dublin squats in their formative years to the global stage. He also observes that while the new sound is bigger, the themes remain personal: “All Tied Together is an album about home and companionship.”

Ye Vagabonds embark on a US headline tour beginning January 31st in Brooklyn, followed by a 2026 European run including London’s Roundhouse on June 11th.
