Ora Cogan unveils haunting “Division” Video from Forthcoming Sacred Bones Debut
Ora Cogan shares “Division,” a stark, reverberant track from her Sacred Bones debut Hard Hearted Woman, out March 13th. Ora Cogan returns with Division, the second single from her forthcoming Sacred Bones debut Hard Hearted Woman, out March 13th. The track is a slow-burning invocation, sparse and echoing, as Cogan’s voice cuts through cavernous reverb like a warning flare. There’s a spiritual weight to the way she pleads for clarity against the noise—”Please don’t listen / Don’t give into the division”—her delivery equal parts prayer and refusal.

The accompanying video, co-directed by Cogan alongside Micah Henry and Paloma Ruiz-Hernandez, leans into archaic symbolism and gothic unease. Filmed in the stark Lillooet landscape, it unfolds like a medieval morality play reimagined through a psychedelic lens. “This video was filmed in Lillooet. There are three beings in this realm. The Human, The Oracle and The Demon,” Cogan explains. “The Human is wrestling internally in a lonely world. They seek liberation from the torment inside. The Demon is the embodiment of the worst inclinations of the human. The oracle is the storyteller, urging the human to find understanding, to find a way through the internal battle.”

Hard Hearted Woman marks a striking evolution for the Vancouver-based artist, weaving together haunted folk textures, spectral country, and psych-rock undertow. Recorded with David Parry (Loving) at Dream Club in Victoria and in Cogan’s Nanaimo studio, the album captures the restless energy of someone grappling with grief, community, and resilience in fractured times. It’s rich with contradiction—brittle but lush, confrontational yet deeply intimate.

Cogan launches a UK and Ireland tour following her Vancouver album release show on March 13th, with stops across Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, and London through early April (dates below).
