Fresh off the resonance of last January’s Âge Fleuve, Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains returns with a propulsive new vision. Now rooted in the Landes region of France, Frànçois Marry has channelled the momentum of his recent European tour into a ten-track project titled Halage (April 3rd via Infiné).

While its predecessor leaned into contemplative depths, Halage marks a shift toward a swifter, more electronic-driven flow. The album serves as a vibrant crossroads of indie pop and folktronica, enriched by an eclectic roster of collaborators including Clara Luciani, Yasmine Hamdan, and Ëda Diaz. This “continuous stream” of sound merges organic percussion with shimmering synths, exploring the delicate boundary between dream and reality.

The journey’s latest preview comes via the third single, “Peaux Miroirs,” a collaboration with David Numwami, with electronic production by Luca Derom and Emile Papandréou, the track is a masterclass in atmospheric shadowplay, utilising subtle electronic textures to explore themes of identity and metamorphosis. The release is accompanied by a new visualizer that mirrors the track’s fluid, reflective nature.

“It all starts with the music here, an instrumental piece commissioned from Belgian producer Luca Derom. I’ve looked for words that fit the main melody. At this time, the talented David Numwami is also collaborating with me. I proposed that he supported me with his voice in a first version and ten years later, I rework the text and he honors the invitation to sing with me again.”
