Bob Mason has been playing in a bluegrass outfit called the Piper Road Spring Band for 52 years. “We started when we were 4 years old,” he jokes. They played the Grand Ole Opry in 1978.

Piper Road Spring Band is legendary in the upper midwest – but they also come down to the Florida Keys to escape the cold sometimes in the winter and play The Green Parrot and other clubs – was introduced to Bob and the boys about 13 years ago – always a great show and fun as heck to get to pick with them – refreshing to see someone with a few years on them get exposure like this!!
Ha! Didn’t know about the Key West connection. I’ll probably hanging out at the Green Parrot bar in Key West in a couple weeks when down there for Mile 0 Fest. Interestingly, another alumnus of The Hook, Poor Life Choices, also spends a lot of time down there.
My brother from another mother, Andy Thomas is playing the Green Parrot Friday-Sunday during Mile 0 Fest. His first album produced by Dave Schools drops March 27th Trigger, check him and his band out and let us know what you think
