Three new tracks at the intersection of adult contemporary and indie pop — must hear for fans of moody music like Billie Eilish

Sophia Louisa – “Right Behind You”
-If you’re a fan of moody, introspective music, definitely check out this new track from Sophia Louisa. It’s a captivating style of songwriting that encourages the listener to lean in and listen close. The overall energy of the track feels a bit mysterious in the best way. The delicate and emotive vocal reminds me a lot of artists like Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridgers. The overall track style is great for setting a mood or for leaning in to connect with the lyrical depth of the song. This one is truly a special track with plenty of ethereal depth for discerning listeners.

Seafret – “Driftwood”
-There’s a positive rock energy to this track right from the start. The chords feel optimistic and energetic, but it’s really the vocal the makes the song stand out. I’ve probably made this comparison before, but the lead singer feels like the middle of a Venn diagram between the lead singer from St Paul and the Broken Bones and Gnarls Barkley. Ok, I lied. I’m sure no one has ever said that before. But nevertheless, this is an outstanding vocal style and definitely worth a spin. If you’ve ever been on the verge of breaking down and had to choose whether to press on or give in, this song will resonate deep within your soul. It’s anthemic in the best way, inspiring the listener to rise above the struggles because some day it will all be done. All we have right now is love, so make the most of it.

Dxngelo – “overdrive”
-I am sure there’s a proper vocabulary for this type of music, but it’s just a little outside of my norm. Is it R&B? Probably. Is it a little bit soul? Yes. Does it feel like a kind of pop that makes me want to ease down into the hot tub and relax? Absolutely. There’s a romantic element to the track, for sure. But this is more than just a club tease; it’s more like a romance track that’s about the pursuit, the chase, finding that commitment. The vocal moves from smooth soul to more of a rap-influenced style. The end result is a track that’s perfect for chilling in the background or sending to that special someone you are pursuing. “If I’m being honest, girl you still drive me crazy.” Been there. Still there. Spin this if you’re still crazy about that special someone.
